Brrrrrrrrr!

I can't believe how could it has grown in the past 24 hours! It's insane! I'm officially ready for spring.

So I've become totally addicted to http://www.ravelry.com/ now. So much so that I've combined my personal interests and created my own community! The name is http://www.ravelry.com/groups/coast-2-coast-all-nighters
, and we've already got 5 members! WOOT! I'm also thrilled to locate teachers who knit and people like myself who are addicted to cupcakes! There really IS a group for everything on there, eh?

Anyway, I am in the process of acquiring bamboo hooks and a set of bamboo needles. On Friday I will order a knitting tutorial CD-Rom, then I'll be all set to learn to knit! I was so tempted to order circular bamboo needles, but I think I'll wait a bit. Of course, circular needles are the type I learned to knit on in 5th Grade Girl Scouts, and when I researched them people said they are very good for your hands and a great choice, but I want to learn on regular needles first. I am hoping it will come back to me easily.

I hope it's warmer for you than it is for me right now!

*hugs*

I'm glad you didn't order the bamboo circs. I am a proponent of bamboo needles (or wood, but those are usually more expensive), but the circs suck because the cable is so bad and a bad cable in a circ needle is DOOM.

If you get to where you want to invest some money into your knitting supplies (ie you decide you'll be knitting for the rest of your life) I cannot recommend the Knit Picks interchangeable circular needle starter set. It's around $50-ish, but worth every penny. However, I do not think their needles are great for a beginner because they are awfully slippery and dropping stitches for a beginner is hell!

Check out http://www.knittinghelp.com for free videos too. Hers are very awesome. Not as convenient as a DVD, but free and handy.

Thanks for that feedback! Any advice or tips you have are going to be sooo needed and appreciated! LOL

The needles I ordered look awesome with the wooden balls on the end to keep stuff from sliding off.

Oh! I also saw the double edged wooden needles, but I was like, WTF? LOL I figured those must be for something specific so I stayed away.

I want to get cracking on this so I can master...drumroll...SOCKS! Woot!
